Columbus Social Media

These days everyone and their grandmother is on Facebook. Social Media is fast becoming a staple in the way we communicate and do business.

I have been using Facebook since January 2005. When I joined Facebook, there were less than 50 people in the Kent State University network that I was able to be friends with. I was on Facebook before anyone else I know. Very few “Social Media Experts” can say this. I have also been using Twitter since June 2008. Before there were these Social Media platforms, I participated in forums and message boards, as well as several small niche sites with member communities. Social Media isn’t a new phenomenon. The only thing that has changed over the last ten years is the size of the networks. In the past, Social Media was spread out across thousands of sites whereas today, there are a few heavy weights that handle a majority of Internet traffic. Regardless of your thoughts on Social Media, it has become an every day staple for millions of people. Social Media has been a crucial part of revolutions throughout the World. Social Media has incredible reach and should be part of your marketing plan.

SEO should help guide Social Media Marketing strategies. Social Media Marketing is usually focused on making the connections, but if SEO is consulted early on, it can result in more in-bound links and the right content being shared, +1′d on Google, and most importantly, liked on Facebook.

SEO and Social Media should be complimentary to one another. I provide Social Media consulting as well as Social Media training for customer service teams. Contact me if you are interested in learning more about Social Media and how it can be of benefit to your business.
